Dreams Happen Playhouse Display and Auction

Stanford Shopping Center and Rebuilding Together Peninsula are pleased to announce the return of Dreams Happen, a biennial public event featuring 12 custom-made playhouses and one dog house to be auctioned at a gala hosted by Shopping Center on June 1, 2013. This will be the 11th year that the event will take place at the center.
Dreams Happen brings together renowned Bay Area architects, designers, and builders to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind, life-sized children’s playhouses. All proceeds from this event benefit Rebuilding Together Peninsula, a non-profit organization dedicated to rehabilitating the homes and community facilities of low-income neighbors in need from Sunnyvale to Daly City.
Playhouses range in theme from a Stanford-inspired equestrian barn built by a team of local firefighters to an orange and black ballpark and a Safari Campout to inspire the littlest explorer. Some other playhouse creations for 2013 include Ohana Hale, The Modern Overlook, Peninsula Creamery, Box.O.Matic 3000 and The Little Mountain Cabin. Participating in the event again this year, Barbara Butler, known for her custom, hand-carved playhouses, has designed a modern pop art playhouse called Home is Where the Heart Is. Additionally, for the first time ever, the event will showcase a doghouse designed by Winges Architects, Inc. In total, Dreams Happen will highlight 11 children’splayhouses and one doghouse that will be on display at Stanford Shopping Center starting May 4, 2013.
The Dreams Happen gala and playhouse auction will take place on Saturday, June 1st, in Stanford Shopping Center’s Center Pavilion beginning at 6:30pm. Catered by a sampling of the shopping center’s acclaimed restaurants, guests will dine and dance under the stars as they try their luck at bidding on the coveted, custom playhouses.
Tickets for the gala event go on sale May 1, 2013. Tickets purchased before May 15, 2013 are $95. Those purchased after May 15, 2013 are $115.
